The press conference on 2012 Zhangjiajie Forest Protection Festivalheld on the evening of September 18 attracted more than 120 journalists from 60-plus domestic and overseas media.
The conference marked the opening of this "Enjoying Natural Beauty and Promoting Ecological Civilization" themed festival at Zhangjiajie National Forest Park on September 19. Visitors are expected to witness a series of marvelous activities including the opening ceremony of this festival, gala performances, unveiling ceremony for Bronze Statue of Wu Guangzhong-great master of traditional Chinese paintings and shooting ceremony of "Dream in Zhangjiajie".
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park as China's first state-level forest park was founded in September, 1982. During its 30 years, the park has developed from a forest farm into a prestigious tourist attraction. Its operation philosophy has evolved from "a park for sightseeing" into an ecological park and a park spreading ecological culture. Launched in 1991, Zhangjiajie Forest Protection Festival is said to be the only public celebration for forest protection.
