On September 14, the third "Ancient City, Ancient Town and Ancient Village" Cultural Tourism Festival & Cultural Tourism Month across the Straits was launched in Huaihua, Hunan Province.
Themed "Legendary Huaihua, a Paradise of Ancientry", the opening ceremony bubbled with songs and dances presented by performers in front of the Drum Towers of the Dong minority. The audiences savored the ancient culture as the performance went on or enjoyed the ancient view under the large screen at the site. Coming from Taiwan, some veterans of the Anti-Japanese War (1937-1945) even choired to memorize their victory over Japan in Zhijiang in 1945 and eulogize peace. It is reported that the festival aimed to demonstrate the profound historical and folk culture of Huaihua, to set up a cultural travel brand of ancient city, ancient town and ancient village, and to promote the culture of peace in Zhijiang. Cooperating with such related areas as Hunan Province, Chongqing City, Guizhou Province and Guangxi Province, Huaihua will spare no efforts to boost the development of cultural travel industry around the Wuling Mountain.
Li Hui, mayor of Huaihua City, declared the festival open and extended her warm welcome to visitors from all around the country. According to the sponsor, such series of activities as the Promotion Seminar on Cultural Tourism across the Strait & the Strategic Investment Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony, Memorial Ceremony for Martyrs in the Anti-Japanese War and Workshop on Tourism of Culture of Peace will get started as well during the festival.
