The First Dongjiang Lake International Folk Song Festival unveiled its curtain on the evening of September 12, 2013 on the Dongjiang Cultural Plaza of Zixing, Chenzhou. The event gathered 13,000 joyful audiences who cheered to the accompaniment of powerful rhythms of gong and drum from time to time.
The four-day festival is organized by market operation for the first time in Zixing City. Artists from 10 countries like France, Canada, Indonesia, Thailand and North Korea will put on performance.
The first overseas performance received warm applause when 10 French actors showed up on the stage, dressed up as "clowns". Their exaggerated facial expression and variant postures entertained the audience, like a breeze of French flavor sweeping over the whole place. Audience waved the light sticks and replied with "Oh-la-la".
A group of young boys from Congo, dressed in vibrant traditional costumes, presented the magical customs and practices of African with their bold and powerful hot dance. The audience joined the "dance and wave", pushing the atmosphere to its climax.
Performers from Canada, Indonesia, Thailand and North Korea also staged wonderful shows, winning acclamation from overwhelmed viewers.
