Construction of First Domestic Water Recycling Plant Launched in Changsha

The construction of Hunan Yanghu Water Recycling Plant was officially launched on the afternoon of August 9. It is the first water plant that adopts the ecological technology "traditional secondary biochemical treatment--- constructed wetland plus natural wetland" in China.

The plant is a demonstrative project of the "Two-Oriented" Society construction at the pilot area on the west bank of Xiangjiang River and the key eco-environment engineering. Based on the traditional secondary biochemical treatment technology, three aquatic plant ponds and 12 wetlands will form a special aquatic ecosystem to perform secondary sewage treatment, which can purify the water and absorb odor in the plant. The treated water can reach primary A level, representing the first case of water recovery in the province.

It is learned that the 50-square-kilometer water recycling plant (including the Changsha Yanghu District and Hanpu District) now has a daily sewage treatment capacity of 40 thousand tons, which is expected to reach 120 thousand tons in 2020.
