Civil Airport Wugang to Start Construction in October

According to the Shaoyang Municipal People’s Government on August 28, Shaoyang Wugang Airport officially made its preparation work on August 27 to ensure the starting construction at the end of October.

Approved by the State Council and the Military Commission of the CPC Central Commission, the civil airport is a feeder airport in China. To meet an annual throughput of about 250,000 visitors and annual freight delivery of 500 tons in 2020, a runway of 2,600 meters, a terminal of 3,000 square meters, and 4 places for planes at station site will be built in the current phase of the project. The airport will also be equipped with production facilities regarding communication, navigation, weather, fire rescue, and power, water and oil supply. The airport is located near Hetang Village of Toutang Township in Wugang City, with a total investment of 957 million yuan.

Filling the blank of civil airport in central Hunan, the project is beneficial for improving Hunan’s layout of civil aviation airports, enhancing external traffic of Shaoyang and its neighboring areas, optimizing investment environment, and propelling local economic development and travel resources exploration led by Langshan Mountain.
