Huaihua Municipal People’s Government inked a strategic cooperation agreement on the morning of August 23 with Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, Hunan Academy of Chinese Medicine and Hunan Xingxiang Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. to promote Chinese medicine industry.
There have been over 1,909 Chinese medical herb varieties belonging to over 270 families in Huaihua City, including 170 key varieties of medical herbs with an annual productivity (inventory) of 7.69 million tones, accounting for 66.9% of the total key varieties of medical herbs in China. The Chinese medical herbs in the city top the province in terms of variety, productivity and quality.
Based on the 100 plus existed Chinese medical herb bases and Chinese medicine processing enterprises, the cooperation parties aim to build Huaihua into the center of a "Chinese Medicine Valley in Western Hunan" in five to ten years, which covers 5 neighboring provinces (cities and districts) with Chinese medicine bases for herb planting, trading, research, processing, logistics and distribution.
