China Red Travel Promotion Week Launched in Shaoshan

The China Red Tourism Promotion Week was launched at Mao Zedong Bronze Statue Square in Shaoshan City, Hunan Province on July 8.

The launching ceremony welcomes more than 600 representatives including veteran revolutionists, young students and travel staff.

This promotion campaign highlights the theme of "Creating first-class scenic areas, carrying forward revolutionary spirit". The photo exhibition of national classic red tourist attractions and the performance ”Shaoshan in the sunrise“ will follow the opening ceremony in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.

According to Yang Guangrong, head of the Hunan Provincial Tourism Department, Hunan's red travel industry has witnessed rapid development in recent years. From 2004 to 2010, red scenic spots throughout the province received 145 million visitors, realizing an income of about 41 billion yuan. A total of 600,000 people across the province are involved in the travel sector.
