On the morning of March 2, Zhangjiajie received its largest overseas tourist group ever in the history, composed of 769 tourists from Thailand's NUTRAVEL company. They were divided into three batches to tour the essential scenic spots of Zhangjiajie. On the day, first batch of 400 plus tourists of this group entered Wulingyuan's core scenic area, experiencing the "Journey of Avatar".
Since 2011, Zhangjiajie has promoted discount tourist groups for three successive years. It has also been to Thailand for travel marketing, establishing favorable cooperative relations with its departments and organizations including the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Association of Thai Travel Agents. At present, Thailand, following South Korea, has become Zhangjiajie's second biggest overseas customer source.
According to the travel department of Wulingyuan District in Zhangjiajie, travel promotion groups will continue to be organized to Southeast Asian countries like Thailand. Besides, the travel image store of Zhangjiajie in Thailand will be greatly expanded in order to further stabilize and consolidate the customer source market in Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries.
