Zhangjiajie Holds a Meeting on Expanding Thailand Travel Market

On July 12, Zhangjiajie held a meeting on expanding the Thailand travel market in South-East Asia, which will unveil 10 measures including the establishment of travel image shops there in the second half of this year, setting the goal of receiving 50,000 Thailand tourists in 2011. Mr. Chen Chuyi, deputy director of Working Committee for Zhangjiajie Municipal Tourism Bureau, attended the meeting and delivered an important speech.

According to insiders, as a good neighbor of China, Thailand is a middle-income country with a total population of 65 million, of which 12% people are Chinese. With abundant travel resources, it is famous for its charming tropical folk custom and unique Buddhism culture. As Zhangjiajie succeeds in expanding the out-bound market and improving the transportation system, Thailand, like South Korea, will become a major tourist source of in-bound travel. Zhangjiajie is a world-renowned tourist city, with travel industry as its mainstay of the economy. In the first half of this year, Wulingyuan Scenic Area has received nearly 20,000 tourists from Thailand, up 150% over the same period last year.

“It is imperative that all departments in Zhangjiajie make great efforts to exploit overseas market. The specific measures include designing special travel products for tourists, regulating Zhangjiajie’s market order, and inviting Thailand media to visit Zhangjiajie for boosting its reputation. ”Chen Chuyi said during the meeting.
