Zhangjiajie Forest Protection Festival to Be Held in October

The 2013 China (Zhangjiajie) International Forest Protection Festival is scheduled to be held on October 12. Its core theme is developing ecologically-friendly industries. On the morning of September 11, the Forestry Department of Hunan Province and the Zhangjiajie Municipal People’s Government jointly held a press conference regarding the matter in Changsha.

Zhangjiajie Forest Protection Festival is said to be the only non-profit festival activity across the country focusing on the subject of ecological civilization and forest protection. After twenty-two years’ efforts, it has now transformed into a grand event publicizing ecological civilization, sharing experiences in forest protection and developing green industry.

At the moment, Zhangjiajie is seen as the largest and functionally complete forest tourist area providing the most benefits. In 2012, more than 23 million tourists were attracted there, accounting for almost two thirds of the municipal total (35.9 million). Its sightseeing, leisure and rehabilitation resources appealed to most tourists from home and abroad. Last year, the output value of forest travel of Zhangjiajie exceeded 16 billion yuan.

It was revealed at the conference that the film “Dream in Zhangjiajie”, the first of its kind to show development of the national forest park, will also be premiered at the festival.
