World’s Largest Freestanding Building Opens in Changsha

The opening ceremony of Wanjiali International Mall, the largest freestanding building in the world, was grandly held in Changsha on Dec. 19.

The ceremony was attended by Hunan provincial leaders and senior comrades including Chen Shuhong and Cai Lifeng, former deputy directors of the Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial People's Congress, He Baoxiang, vice governor of Hunan Province, Xiao Yayu, member of the Party leadership group of the Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial People's Congress as well as leaders of Changsha Municipal People Government such as Mayor Hu Henghua and Secretary General Tan Yong.

Vice Governor He Baoxiang announced the official opening of the world’s largest freestanding building.

Vice Mayor of Changsha Liao Jian remarked that the Mall plays an influential role in driving Changsha’s economic growth for its advanced strategic thinking, leading management idea, new business model and huge development potential. It is expected that the Mall will become the center for wealth, famous international brands and consumers, and a preferred investment destination for businessmen. In the near future, the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and Changsha Municipal People's Government will fully support the development of the shopping center by providing high-quality services, preferential policies and favorable environment, so as to lay a solid foundation for making the Hunan-based building a commercial giant benefiting south central China and linking Hunan and the world.

Leaders at provincial, municipal and district levels attend the opening ceremony of Wanjiali International Mall, a municipal re-employment project, to jointly witness the urban progress of Changsha and encourage mass entrepreneurship.

Two helicopters landed on the roof of Wanjiali International Mall after flying around the building for two times. It is learned that the roof can accommodate 118 helicopters.
