Tongguan Ancient Street Opens to Public in Wangcheng

Tongguan Ancient Street & plate-conferring ceremony of “Tongguan—Origin of Marine Ceramic Road” was launched at Cultural Square of Kiln Fire and Ceramic Town in Tongguan Town of Wangcheng District on October 22. Former national politicians, representatives of ambassadors to China, mayor representatives of Cities Alliance, experts and scholars at home and abroad along the Marine Ceramic Road gathered in Tongguan to join hands to build the Marine Ceramic Road in the 21st century.

Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee Zhang Xiangtao, Deputy Mayor of Changsha Zhang Yingchun, Secretary of the CPC Wangcheng District Committee Tan Xiaoping, and Head of Wangcheng District Kong Yucheng jointly unveiled the stone tablet of “Origin of Marine Ceramic Road”.

Tongguan, known as a ceramic town with a 1,000-year history, is one of the five ceramic towns in China and the birthplace of under-glazed colored ceramic across the world. Wangcheng plans to take 10 years to build Tongguan into a medium-sized city with a population of 100,000 and a new urban area of 10 square meters, as well as a historic and cultural ancient town and a new modern industrial town integrating ancient urban civilization and modern industrial civilization.
