Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway Hunan Section Under Construction

A prestressed concrete box girder, which was 32.6 meters long, 12 meters wide and weighed 800 plus tons, was safely and accurately settled at the Sitouchong Bridge, a pass-through of the Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway in Hunan section, by a 900 tons’bridge girder erection machine at 9 o'clock of December 9.

Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway, one of the national key programs of the "four longitudinal and four crosswise high-speed railways", is made up of three sections, namely, Shanghai-Hangzhou section, Hangzhou-Nanchang section and Changsha-Kunming section. Upon completion, it will only take 4 hours to travel from Changsha to Kunming and Hangzhou respectively with the design speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

The 416-kilometer long Changsha-Kunming section, 83.15% of which is to be tunnels, is scheduled to connect such cities as Changsha, Xiangtan, Loudi, Shaoyang and Huaihua. Nine newly-established railway stations including Xiangtan North Railway Station will be covered.
