The 30th anniversary celebration of Jishou City was grandly held at People's Square of Jishou City, Hunan Province on September 22. Citizens in distinctive native costumes sang and danced gaily to celebrate their hometown's birthday.

Thanks to national support policies and unremitting efforts made by the people of all ethnic groups, Jishou City has taken on a brand new look since its founding 30 years ago. Till now, the city boasts convenient transportation and favorable location with several national and provincial trunk roads and southern section of Jiaozuo-Liuzhou railway running through it.

In 2011, the per capita disposable income of urban residents and per capita net income of rural residents increased to 16,330 yuan and 4,093 yuan respectively, an average annual increase of 11.4% and 13.3%. With the industrial expansion in sectors of agriculture, industry, and services, the value-added of the three main industries increased 26 times, 146 times and 164 times respectively. The city's comprehensive economic strength ranks among the top 20 in Hunan.
