On November 5, the international amateur photographers, participating in the 2014 Hunan Province Foreigner Photo Contest, arrived at their last stop of the “Luxi-Huayuan-Jishou-Guzhang-Yongshun” cultural tour in Western Hunan, Furong Town of Yongshun County.

Originally named Wangcun Village, Furong Town has a long history of over 3,000 years. Located beside the Youshui River, it is an important and convenient transportation hub as well as profound historic culture, honored as a powerful town of Youyang County, a port connecting Hunan and Sichuan, and one of the “Top Ten Beautiful Towns of China”. The town is surrounded by water from three sides, with stilted buildings of Tujia Nationality built on cliffs and the Yingpan Stream running through the town. When passing by Wangcun Big Waterfall, participants were surprised by its magnificent scenery and surging water which is as beautiful as Huangguoshu Waterfall in Guizhou Province. They all took pictures of “a thousand years ancient town hung on waterfalls”. Virginjia Plungyte from Republic of Lithuania said excitedly “The scenery here is so beautiful and the waterfalls are wonderful. I cannot help sharing my happiness here with my friends.” After the tour, international friends were interviewed, in which they expressed their delight over this trip and their gratefulness for having such an opportunity to closely experience local customs and practices of Western Hunan. They also wished more tourists from all over the world to visit this charming place.
