Hunan to sent 100 Exchange Students to U.S. in 2012

On June 13, Hunan Provincial Education Association for International Exchange announced that 100 outstanding middle school students will be selected across Hunan and sent to U.S. for further studies in 2012. To facilitate the selection, the SLEP (Secondary Level English Proficiency) Intensive Training Camp for middle school exchange students will be held in the First High School of Changsha this summer.

According to the chief of Hunan Provincial Education Association for International Exchange, before going to the U.S., middle school students are required to pass the SLEP test including listening and reading, an interview to access their oral English and comprehensive assessment. The score of the SLEP test serves as a criterion in judging students' English proficiency for entering private middle schools in the U.S. and selecting exchanging students by U.S. Department of State.

The SLEP Intensive Training Camp, which is to be held in two phases on July 16 and August 14 respectively, will invite exchange students in 2010 as volunteers to communicate with campers. It will also invite senior experts from China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) to deliver lectures on planning overseas studies.
