A seminar on whole-region travel development of Hunan Province was held on Mar. 1. At the seminar, the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Tourism officially launched the construction of whole-region travel demonstration zones in Zhangjiajie city, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture Huaihua city and 30 counties advanced in travel. The Bureau also initiated the establishment of a community for Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua travel cooperation and a cooperation alliance on Langshan Mountain eco-culture travel.
The whole-region travel is a new idea and pattern for balanced development among regions by means of developing travel as a competitive industry to promote coordinated economic and social development in a region.
Hunan will promote whole-region travel in light of local conditions and characteristics, said Chen Xianchun, director of the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Tourism.
Chen remarked that in the near future, a regional travel development plan focusing on one belt (Xiangjiang River Tourism Belt) and four travel circles in Chang-Zhu-Tan, Western Hunan and Southern Hunan, and around Dongting Lake will take shape, with Changsha as its center, Zhangjiajie as its lead and Yueyang, Huaihua and Chenzhou as its growth poles.
Hunan will set up 12 travel-based functional zones to facilitate barrier-free travel.
