On June 18, leaders of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan Provincial Government officially announced their plan to construct a stronger travel industry in the next five to ten year period.
The aim is to fortify indexes of economic contribution, market size and comprehensive strength of travel in Hunan. By 2015, the province is planning to annually host more than 400 million people from home and abroad with an expected total income of over 360 billion Yuan, accounting for more than 14% of the province's GDP.
Priority will be given to projects that mainly develop nine major tourist attractions, such as Shaoshan, Hengshan, Fenghuang and Langshan, to an international level, andintroduce ten travel brands into domestic market, as well as promote 100 state-level travel areas, build 100 high-end star-hotels, and foster ten well-known travel enterprises with an annual revenue of more than 1 billion Yuan. In addition, greater efforts will be put in exploring new forms of travel like introduction equipment manufacturing industry into travel, exhibition travel and travel intelligence industry.
