Hunan Province recently announced the action plan on the development of Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone. The province plans to implement about one hundred key projects to make the zone more beautiful and fertile.
These key projects cover various areas, such as ecology and environmental protection, infrastructure, characteristic industries, new-type urbanization, and people's livelihood, specifically relate to ecological restoration, urban and rural cleaning, comprehensive transport, quality improvement of urban and rural areas and special town development, drinking water safety, and comprehensive treatment of schistosomiasis.
The infrastructure related projects include: three roads around the lake, nuclear power stations in Peach Blossom River (Yiyang) and Xiaomo Mountain (Yueyang), and airports in Yueyang, Changde, and Yiyang.
