Hunan Five Places Listed as National Pilot Intelligent Cities

On January 29, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China (MOHURD) released the list of the first batch of national pilot intelligent cities. Thirty-seven prefectures and cities, fifty districts (counties) and three towns were on the list.

In Hunan Province, Zhuzhou City, Shaoshan City, Yunlong Demonstration Area of Zhuzhou, Baijia Town of Liuyang City and Meixi Lake International Service Area of Changsha City were among the 90 candidates.

Meixi Lake International Service Area of Changsha City has been singled out to forge Meixi Lake into an intelligent city pilot area, a green, low-carbon demonstration area called "digital Hunan", which will serve as a core platform for emerging Changsha industries. It aims to provide support for such strategic emerging industries as cultural creativity, e-commerce, as well as high and new technology, and to assist in policy planning by offering information support crucial in government decision making. Overall, it is set to become an international innovative zone integrating technology, culture and industry.
