Hunan Artists to Debut at Venice Biennale

The 55th Venice Biennale will be held in Venice from June 1 to November 24. A Chinese delegation of seven artists, including Hunanese Shu Yong, will "march" into the contemporary art exhibition.Shu Yong will be the first Hunan artist to attend the Biennale.

This biennale is themed "The Encyclopedic Palace", and China will display her art at a dedicated national pavilion.

Speaking as a member of the artist delegation, Shu believes that the thought and artistic expression of China's artists have become a way to communicate with the world.

This method tends to embody the historical trend at the point of international intersection. Chinese art must "go global" in the internationalized environment.

China's other six artists are He Yunchang, Hu Yaolin, Miao Xiaochun, Tong Hongsheng, Wang Qingsong, and Zhang Xiaotao.

Established in 1895, the Venice Biennale is the largest international art exhibition in the world. It is known as the "Olympics of the Art World".
