It was revealed from the Changsha Border Checkpoint on June 30 that altogether 2,177 flights were checked through at the border checkpoint in the first half of the year 2011 with 310,545 entry and exit passengers in total, rising by 12.2% and 18.2% respectively compared with the same period of the previous year. Among the passengers, 243,212 were foreign visitors and 64,142 were Taiwan travelers, an increase of 25.4% and 12.7% from a year earlier.
There are over ten regular and charter flights opened in Changsha currently, flying directly from the city to Hong Kong, Taipei and Taichung of Taiwan, Seoul, Taegu, Gwangju and Busan of South Korea, Bangkok of Thailand, Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, Frankfurt in Europe, Singapore, and Japan. The flights are run by more than ten airlines both from home and abroad, including China Southern and China Eastern on the mainland, Dragonair and Hong Kong Airlines in Hong Kong, Air Macau, China Airlines and TransAsia Airways in Taiwan, Korean Airlines and Asian Airlines in South Korea, and Malaysia Airlines.
