China-Switzerland Cooperation Fair Held in Changsha

The China (Changsha) Switzerland Cooperation Fair on Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation was held in Changsha on May 9. Ulrich Hunn, consul general of Swiss Consulate in Guangzhou, and Zeng Qingyan, science and technology adviser of the Hunan Provincial People's Government, attended the fair.

As one of the seven emerging industries of strategic importance in Hunan Province, the environmental protection industry makes a difference in pollution prevention and treatment as well as ecological protection, and provides advanced equipment and technology support for industrial transformation and restructuring.

According to the Planning on Development of Energy-saving and Environmental Protection Industry issued by the provincial government, by 2015, the added value of this industry will reach 30 billion yuan, an annual growth of 24.6% on average. To realize this target, the Hunan Environmental Protection Department endeavors to intensify international exchanges and cooperation, establishing excellent ties with such countries as Switzerland and Australia.

At the fair, representatives of China and Switzerland exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in the field of environmental protection and energy conservation. Fifteen Swiss enterprises engaged in environmental science and technology conducted face-to-face exchanges with thirty-one Hunan-based enterprises.
