Changsha Travel Income Exceeds 1 Bln yuan During May Day

Changsha saw a travel peak during the May Day Holiday 2011. The city received 2.2289 million visitors and earned 1.06 billion yuan, rising by 20.2% and 27.4% respectively over the same period of the previous year.

The 2011 National Road Cycling Championship & China Changsha Cycling Invitational Race along the Xiangjiang River which kicks off on May 4 attracted more tourists across the country. Teams of tourists cycled along the Xiangjiang River and the Liuyang River and gathered at the foot of Yuelu Mountain, making the low-carbon travel popular among people.

Chief of the Changsha Municipal Tourism Bureau said, the success of this professional sports event will be conducive to promoting the image of Changsha and expanding the cultural connotation of the city. The popularity of the low-carbon sports has confirmed the positive impact of this event. Sports travel will become another identity of the city.
