13th Chinese Bridge Competition Opens in Changsha

The 13th “Chinese Bridge” - Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students unveiled its curtain in Yuelu Academy on the afternoon of July 6. A total of 126 contestants from 110 divisions of 87 countries will compete with each other.

Themed “My Chinese Dream”, the competition held its opening ceremony in Yuelu Academy. With the opening of the gate of the academy, what appeared in front of the contestants were five bronze figures embodying essence of Huxiang culture.

At the opening ceremony, a grand ritual - First Writing Ceremony was held. First Writing Ceremony highlights enlightenment education for every student before they are admitted to school. Guided by famous calligrapher Fan Zeng, all competitors ground the ink and took up their brushes to write the most beautiful Chinese character - “行”, which conveys Chinese wisdom of “knowledge and action going hand in hand”, and also encourages competitors to prosper with the knowledge.

After the  the “Cross the Bridge” competition and quarter-finals, the winning 30 contestants will contend in the seni-finals of “outdoor reality show” in Xi’an of Shaanxi Province, Jingdezhen of Jiangxi Province and Anhua of Hunan Province. Five contestants will be chosen to enter the finals.
