On November 19, the first Tourism Communication (TC) Awards were announced at the 2nd Boao International Tourism Communication Forum. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park won the 2017 Most-visited Tourist Destination Award.
The TC Award is China’s first award that assesses travel communication effectiveness based on brand, marketing, and communication. It was founded by the School of Advertising of the Communication University of China and the Global Tourism Communication Creative Alliance. A number of annual awards are announced based on assessment results, including most popular tourist destinations, best travel marketing activities, best travel-based variety shows, and travel communication contributions.
Zhangjiajie has implemented a strategy of “improving travel quality against standards and enhancing growth through travel” since the beginning of 2017. It aims to be an international and national tourist destination. It is constantly improving its travel facilities, adjusting its industrial structure, diversifying travel products, and improving travel quality. More than 300 scenic spots dot the city, forming a new pattern for all-for-one travel.
Preliminary estimates show that from January to October, there were nearly 65 million domestic and foreign tourists visited Zhangjiajie, with travel revenue hitting 53 billion yuan. The two figures were up by 18.7% and 21.20% respectively from the same period last year.
In October 2017, Zhangjiajie Scenic Area was chosen as one of the top-10 best-value places to visit for 2018 by the world’s largest travel guide publisher “Lonely Planet”.
