Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Becomes Hunan’s Low-carbon Pilot Scenic Spot

The “Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Low-carbon Scenic Spot Implementation Plan” has recently been approved at Hunan’s low-carbon pilot program assessment meeting, marking the establishment of Hunan’s first low-carbon pilot scenic spot.

The target of building zero-carbon scenic spot proposed in this plan conforms to the park’s development situation, and is of great significance to publicize the province’s low-carbon development strategy, ecological civilization construction and the park’s mode-transformation and quality upgrading.

The park has always followed the principle of “protection first, and development second”, pushing for ecological civilization villages and an integrated development of scenic sites and villages in an innovative way. It is expected that by 2015, the park will take the lead in reaching greenhouse gas emission peak among China’s well-known scenic spots, and by 2018, it is projected to finish constructing China’s first zero-carbon scenic spot while realizing the objective of green building taking up 100% among newly-built constructions, and the usage rate of electric vehicle and bicycles accounting for 100% in public transportation.
