On the morning of 29, the 3rd China (Changde) Taohuayuan Tourism Festival was held at the Cohere Hotel. Nearly 700 guests from Hunan Province and other provinces, experts, scholars, journalists, representatives from travel agencies and various social sectors attended the opening ceremony.
A series of colorful activities are scheduled in the travel festival this year. The theme activity of "Enjoying Leisure in Changde" will be held in all districts and counties of Changde City respectively, including the Rape Flower Festival, the Golf Challenge Match, the Dragon Boat Race, the Lotus Festival and the Canyon Rafting Cultural Festival. Apart from the activities in the main venue, the sub-venue will hold activities including the unveiling of the statue of Tao Yuanming (a famous Chinese poet in Eastern Jin Dynasty), the ground-breaking ceremony of Taohuayuan ancient town project, a group wedding at Taohuayuan and a sightseeing activity around the scenic area. In addition, the unveiling of the sitting statue of Pan Gu (creator of the universe in Chinese mythology) at the Sun Mountain and activity of visiting the Sun Mountain Forest Garden will be held in Liuye Lake sub-venue.
Mayor of Changde Chen Wenhao introduced the development direction and measures taken towards the city's travel development. He stated that greater efforts should be made to develop Changde into a garden close to people's ideal Taohuayuan, full of happiness by upgrading planning, constructing core scenic spots, improving supporting facilities and integrating social resources.
