Taiwanese in Hunan Get Together to Celebrate New Year

The Taiwan Affairs Office of Hunan Province held a get-together for Taiwan Compatriots, Taiwan entrepreneurs and their family members for the New Year 2011 on the evening of January 22. The representatives of Taiwanese in Hunan and the heads of departments concerned got together to celebrate the New Year and expect for a better future. Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Mei Kebao and Vice Governor of Hunan Province Chen Zhaoxiong were present and delivered speeches.

Mei Kebao, on behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan Government, extended warm greetings and best wishes to them. He expressed his thanks to them for their constant concern and support for Hunan's development over all these years. Moreover, he put forward his hopes and requests on the work related to Taiwan in 2011. Mei Kebao urged, first, to well understand the requirements at the new period and thus opening up a new peaceful chapter for cross-straits relations; second, to promote economic and trade cooperation between Taiwan and Hunan to realize the leap-forward development in this area; then to further enhance exchange and communication between the two sides to push forward their exchange and cooperation in more fields, at a higher level and in a larger scale; next, to try all possible ways to offer best service to Taiwanese in Hunan and protect their lawful rights and interests; and last but not the least to further enhance publicity.
