Almost any time of the year is good for visiting Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Though winter can be cold, snowfall turns the reserve into a winter wonderland. The dense foliage and high elevation make the hot Chinese summers tolerable. As with any temperature zone, spring is filled with blossoms and fresh scents while autumn's riot of color is borne through the changing colors of the leaves. April, May, June, September and October are the golden time to visit Zhangjiajie, but April and May are rainy season, so it is often foggy on the top of mountains. It is very convenient from Changsha to Zhangjiajie, there are 3 ways you can choose.
Flight : It only takes around 1 hour from Changsha to Zhangjiajie by flight, you can take flight BK2909 or BK2863 .
Train: There are several normal-speed trains that operate between Changsha and Zhangjiajie, the train from Changsha Railway Station depart at 03：49，05：47, 07：44, 11：39，20：30 and 22：39, it takes around 6 hours. What’s more, there is a new Intercity railway T8326/T8327 (07:16-11:50) running between Changsha and Zhangjiajie in 2016, the ticket price is 86.5RMB.
Bus: You need to go to Changsha West Bus Station, where there are direct buses to Zhangjiajie City (08：00-19：00), or you can take bus to arrive in Zhangjiajie at Changzhutan Bus Station.
There are a lot of shuttle buses you can take in Zhangjiajie Bus Sation to Fenghuang Ancient City, about 4 hours bus riding and the ticket price is around 65RMB/PAX; Bus schedule: 09:30, 12:30, 14:30, 15:30 and 17:20. Alternatively you can take train from Zhangjiajie to Jishou City, then change to take bus from Jishou Bus Station to Fenghuang.
The Glass Bridge is located in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, which is the highest and longest transparent glass bridge with a length 430 meters and a width 6 meters. It is 300 meters above the ground level and it can bear 800 persons standing on it at the same time. It was paved with transparent glass, in the middle of the bridge there is a bungee jumping platform which is the highest in the world. There is no steel structure in the bridge which is made entirely of glass. It would be the first suspension glass bridge in canyon when the project finishes.
The Glass Skywalk is a relatively recently opened scenic spot in Tianmen Mountain, the skywalk is situated 4700 feet above the sea level, which is only 60 meters long and you are asked to wear shoe cover to protect the glass when you are walking on it. The glass skywalk offers breathtaking views when you are on the top of Tianmen Mountain, you will feel like walking in a fairy land when the mist is still heavy.
Guigu Cliffside Path, situated on the southwestern side of the peak of Tianmen Mountain, is the main route on the peak’s western path, With a toatl length of 1，600, meters and an average height above sea level of 1，400 meters, it got its name from being constructed on the mountain on top of Guigu Cave. The path is suspended high in the air on top of a precipice, with a path along what is like a cliff that has been cut out with a knife. It is too beautiful for the eyes to take in, with rising and falling ridges beneath the feet and an abyss that is hard to gauge that depth of.

Tianmen Mountain is located in Zhangjiajie City, near to Zhangjiajie Railway Station and Airport，45 minutes away from Zhangjiajie National Forest Park by bus. Tianmen Mountain is the highest mountain in Zhangjiajie, well-known for the longest cablecar, Tianmen Natural Cave and Glass Skywalk on the cliff.
Zhangjiajie is mid latitude, which gives the area a temperate climate. Temperatures rarely exceed 35 °C (95 °F) or fall below 0 °C (32 °F). The average annual temperature is around 16 °C (61 °F) and rainfall is fairly well distributed throughout the year.
