Hunan Tops Nation in National-level Scenic Spots Number

There are 22 scenic spots at national level and 49 at provincial level in Hunan Province, covering a total area of 6,745.07 square kilometers, accounting for 3.18% of the total land area of the province, data from Hunan Scenic Areas Work Conference showed.

Last year, the scenic spots of Jiuyi Mountain-Mausoleum of Emperor Shun and Liye-Wulongshan Mountain were successfully rated as national-level ones. The other 20 national ones include: Shaoshan, Yueyang Tower—Dongting Lake, Wulingyuan, Langshan Mountain, Yuelu Mountain, Hengshan Mountain, Mengdong River, Taohuayuan (Peach Blossom Land), Dehang, Wanfo Mountain—Dong Village, Ziquejie Terrace—Meishan Cave, Huxing Mountain—Huayao, Nanshan, Dongjiang Lake, Suxian Ridge—Wanhua Mountain, Fushou Mountain—Miluo River, Fenghuang, Weishan Mountain, Mausoleum of Emperor Yan, and Baishui Cave.

According to the System Planning of the World Heritage and Scenic Spots in Hunan (2012-2030), the number of scenic areas in Hunan province will reach around 110 by 2030. It means that there are 50 potential scenic spots expected to be developed. Scenic spots in such places as Changsha, Xiangtan, Yueyang, Changde, Yongzhou, Chenzhou, Huaihua, and Loudi enjoy the highest potential.
