Hunan to Construct Green Corridor in 2013

From January 22 to 28, the inspection team of the Hunan Provincial Forestry Department supervised and urged the greening process in winter and spring along expressways, national roads and provincial roads, marking the overall beginning of the activity of beautifying urban and rural areas across Hunan. Forestry departments at all levels stated that they will construct and cement 100,000 kilometers of green corridor around urban fringe, wayside and water side, in order to build ecology landscapes full of green sceneries along traffic aisles.

Green corridor along traffic aisles is a foundation project of constructing green Hunan and a main part of the "Ten Major Green Actions" of Hunan. In recent years, forestry departments have greatly promoted the greening project around urban fringe, wayside and water side, enhanced the quantity and quality of forest resources along traffic aisles. In 2013, Hunan will construct and cement 100,000 kilometers of green corridor around the regions with fragile ecology, namely, urban fringe, wayside and water side. The 100,000-km-long green galley consists of almost 4,000 km along expressways, about 2,000 km along railways, nearly 30,000 km along rivers, lakes and reservoirs and almost 60,000 km along roads.
