Recently, Ctrip, a leading online travel agency, announced the top ten most popular destinations in China during the International Labor Day holiday according to the data from its booked products. They are Hainan, Yunnan, Guangxi, Beijing, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shanghai, and Hunan.
According to Chinese travel online platforms, inbound and outbound travel are popular among tourists, and trips made during the International Labor Day holiday is more cost-effective than those made during the Spring Festival, summer vacation, and the National Day holiday.
During the period, more than 500 tourist attractions in China have offered discount services for online bookings. Ctrip and Baidu Map (a desktop and mobile web mapping service application and technology provided by Baidu) predicted the list of top-ranked travel cities. Changsha ranked 19, and Sanya, Guilin, and Xiamen the top three places.
For outbound travel, phased cheap trips to Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe, and America are offered due to the increased flights and favorable RMB exchange rate.
Statistics from Ctrip show that the average travel time spent by Hunan tourists during the holiday is 4 days, with an average booking cost of 1,980 CNY. Package trips account for 49%, while individual trips 51%.
