The awards ceremony of "2012 Selection of the Happiest Cities in China" was held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on the evening of December 30, 2012. Changsha was honored for the fifth time with the highest award of being the Happiest City in China. This is the fourth time that Changsha County has been included in the list (county-level cities).
Jointly held by the Oriental Outlook of Xinghua News Agency and the Working Committee of "China Urban Development Report" under the Chinese Association of Mayors, this award is being given out for six years and has become the most influential activity with great credibility.
The city has been selected as one of China's happiest cities for five consecutive years since 2008 and this year has won the highest honor in this regard according to its highest score in terms of citizens' sense of happiness.
