High-speed Trains Linking Changsha and Hong Kong to Open in 2017

With the joining of Yitianlu Tunnel of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Rail, civil engineering of the last section of Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Rail in Chinese Mainland came to completion. It is expected to shorten the journey from Jiulong West Station of Hong Kong to Shenzhen to 15 minutes at the launch of Hong Kong- Futian Section in 2017, and the travel time between Changsha and Hong Kong will be reduced to less than three and a half hours.

Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway consists of Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway and its extension, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway. The section from Beijing to Shenzhen has been put into operation, while the last section under construction will link Shenzhen North Station with Jiulong West Station of Hong Kong by Shenzhen Futian Station. It will go through underground passage with a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour.

Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, after its completion, will stand out as the longest railway line in the world. By then, Hong Kong will be connected with the high-speed railway network of Mainland China. It will facilitate logistics, information and capital flow between Hong Kong and Hunan.
