As a part of 2016 Hunan (Nanshan) Double Sixth Folk Song Festival, an activity themed on “Sing Folk Song on Orange Isle” was staged on the evening of July 31, 2016. Many grassroots singers made their debuts and attracted much attention.
8 prize winners were selected out from 32 groups of folk song amateurs in communities of Changsha sang folk songs on stage. At the same time, a famous singer group from Chengbu Miao Autonomous County performed folk songs too, bringing the party to climax. A distinctive Miao costume show later presented a strong visual experience to the audience.
The activity was co-hosted by the People’s Government of Shaoyang City and the Hunan Musicians Association. It aimed to promote Shaoyang’s economic and social development in an all-round way when nurturing its reputation as an eco-city of folk song.
