European King of High Wire Failed Again Against Tianmenshan Cableway

Freddy Rock challenged the high steel wire without any protection again on the Mount Tianmenshan in western Hunan’s Zhangjiajie City, which is the longest and steepest cableway in Asia.

Freddy Nock, known as “European King of High Wire”, is a world record holder of many items. On June 28, he made a second challenge of walking on the high steel wire without any protection on the Tianmenshan Mountain in western Hunan’s Zhangjiajie City, which is the longest and steepest cableway in Asia. After walking 420 meters, Rock gave up the challenge due to the stronger wind and steeper slope.

On March 20, 2010, Nock failed to challenge Mount Tianmenshan cableway because the rope was rolling and shaking heavily when he walked for 200 meters. This time Nock met the challenge of walking on the steepest and longest section of Mount Tianmenshan cableway. The section stretches over Tianmenshan valley with a 42-degree gradient and is more than 500 meters above the bottom of the valley at the highest point. It is 700 meters long, about the height of 160 layers skyscraper, and is called “Cableway of Devil” for great challenge difficulty.
