Changsha Holds the First Longping International Forum

The 2013 First Longping International Forum was held in Changsha on the afternoon of November 30. Boasting its highest level in the field of hybrid rice, the forum attracted the participation of numerous governmental officials, technical specialists and industrial representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China, and Asian, African, and Latin American countries. During the conference, a topic on "Hybrid Rice and World Food Security" was probed among these participants and academicians such as Yuan Longping, Xin Shiwen and Xie Hua'an, as well as CEOs (chief executive officers) of 12 top-level enterprises in seed industry of China.

In the section of exchange and communication, several foreign governmental officials joined hands with experts to analyze hybrid rice development in the past 40 years as well as future development tendency in China. They also co-worked to probe approaches for China to export hybrid rice and to seek international cooperation for seed industry, as well as the construction of international seed cities and international strategies for seed industry in China.
