2012 Annual Conference of FAHOCS Convened in Hong Kong

The 2012 Annual Conference of the Friendship Association for Hunan Overseas Chinese Societies (FAHOCS) & Exchange Meeting of Overseas Chinese from Hunan and Hong Kong was held in Hong Kong on January 3, 2013.

Vice President of Hunan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (HFROC) Zhu Jianshan, and the Executive President of FAHOCS convened the conference. The event brought together more than 100 people including members of FAHOCS, representatives of Hong Kong overseas Chinese and press from Hunan and Hong Kong.

At the conference, Vice President of the Hong Kong Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations delivered a welcome speech. Xie Jianhui, director of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province briefed the provincial situation of Hunan. President of HFROC Cao Ya introduced the situation of Hunan overseas Chinese.

Such topics as construction and development of FAHOCS as well as exchanges and cooperation between overseas Chinese of Hunan and Hong Kong were discussed. Representatives noted that they shall further develop the resources for overseas Chinese affairs and strengthen themselves based on the platform of FAHOCS to build a platform and network for connection of Hunan and overseas circle.

Overseas Chinese of Hunan and Hong Kong should deepen bilateral exchange and cooperation to share complementary advantages and intensify the interaction. Efforts should also be made to strengthen communication in financial, trade, science and technology sectors between Hunan and Hong Kong. While seeking support from Hong Kong, a financial bridgehead, Hunan can accelerate the speed to get  geared into the international level.
