The Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee held a press conference on February 27, announcing the launching of the 2014 "Happy Hunan" cultural activities for the mass and the plan of popularizing refined and elegant art themed "Graceful Hunan".
The "Happy Hunan" cultural activities include two parts: the cultural and art performances by the mass and the 4th Hunan all-people square dances. The first part is divided into four phases: publicity and launching, preliminary contest, intermediary contest, and the final. The standing-out mass art teams are expected to take part in the provincial finals in September, which include 14 contests for cities and prefecture as well as one contest set specially for enterprise staff. The all-people square dances will select 14 teams to participate in the finals in October after mass-election in cities and prefecture.
The second part, the plan of popularizing refined and elegant art, is expected to run throughout the year. Two hundred and two performances, which cover various art forms like operas, dance dramas, ballet, symphonic music, Beijing Opera, Kunqu Opera, modern drama, and acrobatics, are scheduled. Excellent shows well-known both at home and abroad will be presented to the audience.
