Hongjiang to Forge the “First Ancient Commercial Town in China”

Eighteen National key Cultural Relics Protection Buildings are located in the Hongjiang Ancient Commercial Town, whose core area is mainly to protect cultural relics.

Located in Hongjiang District of Huaihua City in Hunan Province, the travel project of Hongjiang Ancient Commercial Town is included in the sixth batch of the National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units granted by the State Council, as well as the key projects of Hunan’s major travel “251 Program”, which is designed to fund 20, 50 and 100 travel projects respectively at the provincial, municipal, and county level.

The project of Hongjiang District, with an investment of five billion yuan, is scheduled to be finished before 2020. Its total development area reaches 1.69 square meters, covering 1.2 square kilometer of the core area and 5.3 square kilometers of the Chuanyan New District. Focusing the town and expanding to the Chuanyan New District, the project will develop a cultural travel space by gradually renovating traditional streets and lanes, restoring them back to the original glory. Hongjiang is expected to forge the “first ancient commercial town in China” featured by revitalized economy, advanced travel, harmonious society, sustainable ecology and attractive culture.
