According to Wulingyuan Tourism Bureau, a new scenic spot called “the Immortal Pine” was opened to the public from Sept. 22.
The pine is located near the Pillar between Heaven and Earth that is the prototype of floating mountains in the movie Avatar. Liu Chenghao, a 79-year-old overseas Chinese from Britain, gave it the name of “Immortal Pine”, which was the first scenic spot named by an overseas tourist.
The immortal pine is one of over three thousand Wuling pines in Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie. They are usually grown in the crevices of peaks, making a fantastic landscape.
